Welcome Friends…
Let’s be real — this isn’t a picture-perfect, spotless, color-coded kind of kitchen. This is real life. Where the kids are arguing over snacks, the sink is full of dishes (again), and dinner is sometimes… whatever we can make before someone melts down.
The Hot Mess Kitchen is here to show you real recipes made by real people — no judgment, no fancy equipment, and definitely no shame in boxed cake mix.
I’m Sarah, and I started The Hot Mess Kitchen because I was tired of scrolling past impossibly perfect food blogs with 47-step recipes and ingredients I couldn’t pronounce. I wanted a place for the rest of us — the busy parents, the multitaskers, the “oops-I-forgot-to-thaw-the-chicken” crowd.
Here, you’ll find:
- Weeknight dinners that don’t require a culinary degree
- Tips to make your kitchen work for you, not against you
- Desserts that bring the fun without the fuss
- And a whole lot of “same, girl” energy
Because food should be fun. And your kitchen? It doesn’t have to be perfect to be yours.
As seen in:
No brand deals. No fancy partnerships. Just one tired mom keeping it real and making food that works.

Living with EoE (Eosinophilic Esophagitis)
In my early 30s, I was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE)—a chronic immune condition that affects the esophagus. It took a long time, a lot of frustrating appointments, and more than a few “maybe it’s just reflux” moments to finally get answers.
I’m not a medical professional, but I do know what it’s like to live with the symptoms, the uncertainty, and the search for support. Sharing recipes and real-life kitchen hacks became part of my healing, and I hope my experience helps others feel a little less alone.
If you would like to learn more about Eosinophilic disorders, I’ve complied a list of helpful resources below:
